Probably I was plain lucky! :-) I think it has got more to do with the people at the very moment than something to do culturally. Some people don't give a damn about your stuttering, but then again some do. It all depends on the VERY moment. But, then again, I've heard stories where there was some cultural stigma associated. I don't know, because that has never been the case with me. There has been teasing, ridicule, impatience, unwanted advices, insensitiveness etc, but nothing that would classify as a stigma.
