As a non stutterer, you hsould learn to become a good listener, and I mean you should learn to deliberately engage in specific listening behaviors that tell the PSW you value your time with him/her, and that you value what she is trying to communicate with you. Do not try to talk for the PSW, or interrupt, give good eye contact, and other nonverbal actions that communicate your interest in him. On occasion you may wish to share something about yourself that picks up on what he is talking about, that communicates to him that you trust him with confidntial information about yourself. Don't rush your speech, and respond to the content of what he talking about, and not to his style of talking about. If he wants to talk about his speech with you, then let him know that it's O.K.
