Your two questions are extremely difficult to respond to. At different times different people layered onto the work of people who came before them. The development and improvement of theory and therapy is a never-ending process. What may develop now may have had its beginnings in the research, theory and clinical experiences of many different people, and it is up to those who are currently involved in the culture of stuttering to know its history, to recognize the similar and diverse thinking that may become integrated long after its initial appearance, origins, and popularity. It depends on the open-mindedness, and serendipity of the current people. Being in the right place at the right time with the right people, both historically and currently, with regard to theory, research and clinical tactics is what a layering growth process is all about. Communicating and sharing across differing boundaries of thought enhances the process.
