Thank you for such an enlightening article. It's fascinating that the culture of stuttering is as multidimensional as the factors that seem to influence the onset and development of stuttering. In regards to the people who you describe as the "enablers", those who speak for the PWS, how have you addressed that dynamic in therapy? As a mom myself, I imagine that it would be painful beyond words to watch my child face the teasing, imposed sense of shame and isolation that many who stutter experience. I can certainly understand what would motivate a parent or other family member to want to minimize negative listener reactions by becoming the voice of a CWS. It must be a very delicate issue to approach in therapy.
