Hello, again, Ashley, I am glad that you found what I had to say helpful. Perhaps, you may also find it helpful to know that I know how frustrating changing basic thoughts and behaviors can be. Many times when I was stuck and not losing weight for one or two consecutive weeks during weekly weigh-in's many years ago yet following my diet and exercise regime "to the letter," I was severly tempted to just give up. But my late, ex-husband encouraged me to just keep doing what I was doing and, according to the laws of nature, I would begin losing weight once again. Of course, he was right, and I did. But, without his encouragement, I'm not sure I would have. I was unaware of the commonplace experience of plateuing and thought that my body would not lose any more weight, and I was very impatient with a change process that wasn't delivering what I wanted as fast as I wanted it. So, the mind over matter aspect for me at the time involved strong support from soneone whose judgment I deeply trusted. I think that is true for all of us. Saying we want to change, taking the action to do so, and thinking in contructive ways to support our changing behavior may not be enough for many of us who do not have all the factual information we may need or all the support. We oftentimes really need the loving, knowlegeable support of caring others. Thank you for giving me another opportunity to briefly share what I have learned about mind over matter in human change.
