Hello, Kelly: You certainly are doing a lot of thinking about how to integrate the content of Mind Matters into what you know and are learning in your studies in speech-language pathology. I think you are basically on track as far as how you are piecing things together. I would suggest that you re-read Mind Matters perhaps one or two more times. It is quite dense concept-wise, and I think taking more time with it will help you better appreciate some isssues you referred to, such as applying self-awareness and self-reflection. I would like to suggest that, if you are truly interested in working self-reflection into the therapy you provide, you might want to read the paper I presented at last year's ISAD Conference. The paper, Shenpa, Stuttering, and Me goes into some detail about the practice I use, called shenpa, that I think you might find interesting. Then, if you have questions before this conference ends, please feel free to post again. Best wishes to you, Ellen-Marie Silverman
