Oops, I am sorry to appear obtuse. I have obviously missed something important. Is the deep abdominal breathing that you refer to in the latter part of your paper closely linked to the meditation practice that you describe in the first part of the paper? If so, that link was not apparent to me. I had assumed that the meditation involving exuberant acceptance was much more profound than the practice of deep abdominal breathing. The meditation technique that I am most familiar with involves passive acceptance of sensations - observing sensations with equanimity ie without aversion or craving. Your paper has aroused my interest in the idea of exuberant acceptance of unpleasant sensations and I would like to learn more about this. Regards, Winton.
