Korin, Pema Chodron, highly regarded Buddhist meditation teacher, says, "The mind is the source of everything." And so it seems to be, and so it needs to be considered when working with others, their minds AND ours. >>>> It is quite a long story about how I decided to major in speech-language pathology as a sophmore that is probably more personal than instructive in many ways, so let me just say when I heard there was such a major that prepared a person to help people talk, I jumped at the chance to "join up," especially since the studies combined medical and psychological studies. (I had wanted to be a physician or a psychologist, so this seemed like a great compromise.) If you want to know more about the genesis of my stuttering problem, you will want to read a paper I presented at the ISAD Conference, two years ago entitled, "My Personal Experience with Stuttering and Meditation." It can be accessed through The Stuttering Homepage. Thanks for your interest in "Mind Matters," Korin, and your comment about my writing about my experiene with my first and, probably, last root canal! Good luck with your studies and your work.
