Dear Dr. Silverman, I loved reading your paper. The subject of mind matters and power of mind over our body has been one of my favorites. I am familiar with the work of “Bernie Segal” an MD who strongly believes in this and many cancer patients have been treated by him using the power of mind over body. I liked the way you mentioned Pema’s experience. I, personally, find it so true that if you reimage a bad thing in your thoughts, shame, guilt, anger and resentment will turn into acceptance and once you do this, the bad thought will disappear. The same goes for stuttering! My dad, a retired chemistry professor, taught us that negative experiences as in your dental example, are not necessarily bad and we should acknowledge the uncomfortable experience but not to escape from it, to relax and think about the end of experience when the problem was going to be disappeared. I also liked it when you suggested that for every little achievement to congratulate ourselves. I believe this is really important for stutterers. Big buildings are made of successful placement of single blocks. Thanks for this great paper. Suzanne
