Hi, I am a graduate student in speech-language pathology at UWSP and am taking my first course in fluency. We have discussed the different aspects of stuttering and how they affect the individual and therapy. We have also discussed how experiences can shape an individuals view of stuttering. Changing individual’s beliefs and views seems as though it should be an integral part intervention. As a future SLP, I am curious as to how to effectively help clients change how they think about stuttering. As a side note, your dentist story really helped to cement the point you were making!
