Yes--this could certainly be done. However, stuttered SIMCOM can be a bit ugly in that one is never really certain if there is a primary stuttered modality, and a secondary expressive modality that is gated by the primary. (Remember, it took a good month for me to disassociate between stuttered speech and "stuttered" sign... And I was very conscious of the phenomenon.) So you're quite right in that this research could (and probably should) be performed. However, since the interpretation of the data is inherently problematic, I would shy away from it until we knew more about the phenomenon.
