Hi, I am a graduate student in speech-language pathology and am only beginning to understand the complexity of stuttering. Your article mentioned several studies performed using surveys of students and teachers at oral schools for the deaf. Was there any mention in these studies (or any other literature you have reviewed) of a familial background in stuttering behaviors? Do you think genetics plays the same role in people using sign as it seems to when looking at people who stutter only in oral communication?
