I was just wondering if you could tell me whether or not the ASL students in the studies you mentioned were asked why they repeated a sign or a letter with finger spelling. Were they aware of the repetitive behavior and doing it to keep up with their verbal speech or is there another issue. I was also wondering if there is any more research on this topic. It seems to me that if a hard of hearing (HH) client is stuttering they would not hear the primary characteristics but only be able to feel the secondary. Would this effect/limit possible treatment? This was a very interesting and informative article. I am a first year graduate student at New York University who is looking into specializing in fluency. You have definitely inspired me to look further into this topic and any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
