Hi Meg. You asked: [I wonder, as it is not discussed to an extent in this paper, if the people who are stuttering in their sign notice it and would themselves considering it stutter and also I wonder if the same underlying emotions occur along with sign stuttering as they do in spoken stuttering?] The short answer is, we don't know. There's really no data relative to that question. However, the one person that I have met and personally conversed with demonstrating these behaviors was very aware of these behaviors. (That's exactly why he searched me out in the first place!)
