Hmmm...I don't think this work of facing demons can be addressed with a few counseling techniques. Granted, counseling, rather than working strictly on speech goals, helps the person with their demon work. Sometimes I think the best thing as SLP has to offer a client is her/his full and undivided attention, and compassionate listening.
