I appreciate both of your authentic articles. Understanding the experiences of a person who stutters provides information that can be used to help clients. I am a graduate student and would like to ask both of you a question. Robert, I get the feeling from your article that your breakthrough in social relationships came when you’re confidence level increased. Do you think your level of confidence in yourself is what made the difference with being accepted by peers? Did your fluency increase as well? Tony, your article was inspiring and spoke to anyone that is struggling. You give credit to luck, however, I think, “you seized the moment.” Meaning, opportunity came your way and you took advantage of it. Additionally, you continued to struggle with disfluency and pressed through. Quiet a triumph indeed! My question is have you received any intervention to help curtail the disfluency?
