I enjoyed reading this article and found the different opinions very interesting. I am a graduate student taking a course about stuttering and was glad to have read your paper. Your view about the issue actually being people's perception about stuttering, not just how people prefer to be referred to was thought-provoking. My question for this is: Besides education about stuttering, how can those associated with the stuttering community help to change the negative beliefs about stuttering and still respect each person's choice of how he or she would like to address stuttering?
