Ken, I have two or three comments about your paper. Let me first start off to say "Zeitgeist" Zeitgesit". Person who stutters is a term used by advocates in the late 70's. I have to applaud ASHA to use person first language by the '90's. We are nearing 30 years since the term pws was introduced, I don't believe the word "stutterer" will go out of fashion...Its not like negro to black or african american or chicano to latino.the term PWS came out of the disability rights movement---terms change such as midgets to people of short stature or retarded to developmentallly disabled. Times change and so how that generation determines or labels identities. I have a problem with your questionnaire. I have never heard from the mental health community (two psychologists) or six other social workers terms you present :person who wets the bed or person with psychosis or person who smokes or person who murders. You can maybe change your questionnaire: rape victim/sexually assaulted retarded/developmental disabled Negro/African American Mute/person who is deaf AIDS victim/person living with AIDS Cancer victim/person living with Cancer We've known each other for close to thirty years. And I am sure by 2015 or 2020. Another term will be used for people to identity with: maybe even person with a communication difficulty. Who knows however, its fun and challenging. your friend, Michael
