My observation is that I would never have called myself a stutterer or even a person who stutters because I couldn't ( until very recently) have been able to say the words stutter or stutterer anyway!! If I was to introduce myself I could stay ' I am Veronica I stutter' so it is something I do rather than something I am, so does that make me a person who stutters? I suppose so. But in the same way I am a mother( and not a person who mothers) I am also a stutterer. I guess it really depends on a persons sensitivity and what feels most right. But in the spirit of the name of this conference maybe just ask us what feels right for us? thanks for the thought provoking piece regards Veronica
