I found your article very interesting and enlightening. The fact you found no significant difference in your study regarding the use of person-first versus direct labels initially surprised me. However, as I continued reading your article it became clear that solely changing a label does not carry enough weight to alter people’s negative attitudes and stigmatisms toward those who stutter. Do you think if more energy was geared toward educating the general public about misconceptions regarding people who stutter, the use of first person labeling would be more beneficial in decreasing negative attitudes?
