I guess I never realized till I read this article that people have such a hard time with labels. Whether they are correct or incorrect... I do not know but the fact is that everyone is labeled in one way or another whether it's as a stutterer or an athlete, a teacher, a listener, a optimist, a Catholic, dog lover, cat lover... all of these are examples of labels. It is who we are and all they do is describe that. If you weren't ashamed of what you are then you wouldn't mind the label but I feel that if you are not accepting and ashamed of who you are then that is when the label becomes an issue. We are who we are... we all have different issues and problems that we face through life. We are all dealt different hands.. some may be easier than others but we all fight our way through.. looking for ways to better ourselves and change the things we are so desperately seeking to change or that we are not so proud of. Wouldn't you like to be known as the person who stuttered? A person who was over weight, a person who was a smoker? I don't see a problem with labels if that is who we are. Accept the fact and change it if you don't like it... we all have the power to do so. Right? Find the power within!!!
