Cristen, Really good question on stages of change. I am a therapist with HIV+ folks. When working with a client on substance use, mental health or transmission. It's important to identify your strengths as a therapist. And determine if "U" as the therapist have provided that communication bridge and trust. Some people are just "stuck". a anything u may provide in terms of education and good listening skills that doesn't help the client to move. As a therapist its time to say I've tried. And maybe the client needs to see someone else or you've given the client the information. I have found in my work. Often a client leaves for two to three months and returns "ready for the next step." Not ALL clients however. It relieves me to hear your question and acknowledge that the future for pws with clinicians like you can only improve the therepuetic environment. warmly, Michael
