heather, Good question regarding the stages of change model for children. To my knowledge there hasn't been research or application of this model for children. However, I can suggest that once a child internalizes he or she has a communication difficulty--- it will inhibit their desire to speak. So as a future SLP in working with children the communication by therapist to client is one in which "love, trust and honesty and taking the child for "where he or she is" in developing communication skills and relationships" Good luck in your future endeavors, Kidnly, Michael
