Michael- Thank you for sharing such a well-researched, thought-out article. I have a question for you about the Coming Out step for the PWS. I am an SLP in the Twin Cities and I find this the hardest step for PWS to get to, especially with high school aged kids. And to be honest, if I were a PWS, I don't if I would be able to take such a courageous step when I was a 17 y/o boy. This is my question: What to do when after an intial meeting (or after a few visits of speech therapy) it becomes appearant that the PWS is highly resistant to the coming out stage and has a very sophisticated set of hiding and avoidance behaviors? Would it be better to let the PWS know the benefits of coming out and return therapy when her or she is ready to take that step? Or would it be better to keep the PWS coming to foster trust, plant seeds of how to think differently, do some desensitization work, even if the PWS's heart is not into the process? I am sure the answer varies on an individual case basis. But I often grapple what to do in these situations. Thanks again for your article. It is very helpful and insightful. And thanks for any further insight. -Mike Nawrocki
