As a graduate student studying speech pathology, I found it valuable to receive advice regarding stuttering treatment from a person who stutters. I liked the idea of a clinician being the person to move a client through a cycle of change. It is a useful guide to a clinician to consider the goals they want the client to move through (Stages of Change Model), yet incorporate the personal changes the person is going through during the process. The one question I had was regarding the maintenance stage. You wrote that the maintenance stage is reached after the behavior has been sustained for six months. Do you feel, it is at this point, 6 months of maintenance, that it is appropriate to end therapy?
