Michael, oh my:) teeenage years. How difficult they are. Trying to develop your "own" identity and be and not succomb to "peer pressure". Whether its stuttering or something else. Teenage years are the hardest. So much is going on for our teens. I think what you are trying to do is fantastic! trust and desensitization...yes i think "comning out' is very important. i was kinda of lucky to have a therapist. however, i was in college. have you mentioned Friends who Stutter or NSA conferences to parents. Maybe this 17 y/o would be willing to attend a conference with other teens that stutter. I've seen it! Its often a tremendous experience for teens. good luck. you are planting seeds that willgrow maybe not now...but in three to five years.... warmly, Michael
