Laurie, Thank you for sharing your questions. Your questions raise some issues. First, there is no research in using the SCM in stuttering. This is the first of such articles. You may want to do a google search on the scm to learn more about each of the stages. Second question inferred the article looked at fluency. I feel the goal of therapy has to be done jointly b/tween clincian and client. Open communication,trusted support and discussion regarding relapse can help the PWS to look at his or her life goals---I hope the article infers that fluency is not the goal. However, verbal communication and setting realistic goals for oneself is addressed. In the early as executive director to the NSP/NSA their was slogan that we developed "ITS OK to stutter".
