Mark, Thank you for reading the article and sharing your question. I think I was fortunate to have a slp who listened to "all my ramblings to create myself". I used speech therapy as a therepuetic environment to talk about myself to create myself and allowed myself to learn from the slp intervention strategies regarding my stuttering. In middle and high school I had a friend. I feel I was lucky to have a friend during my teenage years. I worked at the Koool restaurant that teenagers ate. So I knew everyone. Not close friends---just casual. I hope that helps. And I do have to say working with middle and teens is the hardest group. So much peer pressure and "pressure to be oneself." If u have a chance and wanted to become a slp attend either a Friends or NSA conference. Sit in the teen workshops. Wow! take care, Michael
