Tabitha: GREAT question! And there is no easy answer. Some suggestions to consider: FIND other school SLPs where the match might be better, EXPLORE your mismatches with the student...this may indicate if intervention is even appropriate right now or how you might want to proceed, ASSESS the motivation of others and yourself: is Rx driven by parental perceptions (you may need to re-align these), school managerial needs (too narrowly focused on the stuttering and not seeing the bigger picture of communication needs), or not driven by your own comfort levels (in which case attending a conference like this helps)? Your observation implies "forced therapy" which rarely has any lasting positive effects....I hope that helps a little. FWIW. Michael
