Using the gardening methphor, some possibilities of the relapse might include: 1) not continually re-visiting the needs of the client (periodic maintenance), 2)not fully making change and thus sliipping back and relying on old ineffective habits (taking short cuts in helping plant growth), 3) not being fully "rooted" to some level of communicative ability in the first place (and therefore languish), 4) not taking advantage of envirionmental supports to continue growing in the desired direction, 5) maybe some toxin enters the communicatiave/plant environment, causing a deterioration of conditions....these are just a few possibilities.
