Thanks Elizabeth for your good gender question, in the literature of childhood disorders (as an example) the scientists finds many of these gender differences in the etiology without knowing why, for instance the ratios of males are higher in Hyperactivity, Autism, and Speech Disorders in general. As the original causes of stuttering are not yet fully understood; your question remains unanswered, in the design of my recent program I wish I can meet the general ratio of 4:1, but I can't guarantee that because my sample is random and function as "first come, first served"in my future practice I’m planning to have specialized programs for males and females in different ages, and more specified to address even the difference in severity and symptoms.
