Jack - I never gave it much thought until reading your posting, but I can see it. Two things came to mind immediately; the late 80's Apple computer commercial with the young girl sitting at the computer, talking about how she likes to write because she doesn't stutter when she write's (or something like that, it's been a long time), and, an idea I've had for some time for a support group meeting, namely, how many of us are using e-mails as techniques to avoid talking to someone, either in person, or on the phone. For myself, I only began to write on a regular basis a few years ago, after I had had successful speech therapy, after I had come to admit and accept the fact that I stutter. Thus, there is nothing that I write; be it poetry, letters to the editor to various local newspapers (I'm an opinionated son of a gun)or speeches that I plan on giving at my union local, that I would not read aloud before an audience. Well, that's a lie. One thing I will not let see the light of day is the song lyrics I write. While I think they're pretty good, I can neither sing, play an instrument, read or write music. You know, if it weren't for those four little things, I firmly believe I could have been a true music legend. Oh well, maybe in another life.
