I also had a question regarding the neurological cause you spoke of in your definition of "acquired stuttering." Do you not also believe that the cause of all stuttering is neurological? I ask because I believe so. Much therapy for stutterers in the past has focused on manipulating the peri- pheral nervous sytem, yet no one has experienced long-term true fluency. However, a fluency device has recently been made available, and such fluency has been attained for most of the clients who have tried using it. This is because the device acts as a second speech signal, inhibiting stuttering at its source, the brain!
