Stefan,

Your article is really great and I found it so easy to relate to many of your views. I also recognised the similarity between your views and those of John H. Johns article about the hexagon really struck me as being at least very near to the ultimate answer on what stuttering is and how to treat it. This I have told John H. by email and he reacted very nicely and positively on some ideas about how to incorporate the importance of emphasis on the psychological component of stuttering in the training of a new generation of stutter therapists. It is good to see that you and John H. share the feeling of mutual recognition. You and I also share the admiration for Mary Wood’s presentation in Ghent. Her performance was of one the reasons I decided to make the switch, by which I mean no longer trying to conceal that I am a PWS. I told my relatives, best friends and some of my colleagues that I have been a board member for the Netherlands Stammering Association since about a year. Reactions were very positive and as a side effect, some 90% of my fears for stuttering just disappeared. My apologies for this long introduction for what I really want to address. How can we combine our ideas, convictions and efforts in such a way that we can be of service to all our fellow PWSs?

Best wishes, John Kagie
