Hi Susan,

I think, that stuttering should be looked upon wholistically. I had read a long time ago a book by a German therapist E. Westrich, The Stutterer, Psychology and Therapy, ISBN 3-87183-112-3 (in German). With a conversational wholistic approach the author had a very good success, especially with young stutterers. I think, that many people, who learn to deal succesfully with their stuttering, do so because they find their Way in life and can leave stuttering behind. And very few of those ever relfect on their lives and write down their stories to tell other PWS how they left stuttering behind. People from the self help movement, who reflect actively on their stuttering and tell their stories, seem to represents less than 0.1 % of all PWS. These figures were presented by Peter Tonev on the World Conference of PWS in Gent, 2001.

regards, Stefan
