y'all,

Today, October 13, 2001 was my first day of using mobile phone as a means of desensitization for my stuttering. I raise a toast to the late and great Joseph Sheehan for emphasizing the role of voluntary pseudo stuttering in public! I went to Albertson's and held my mobile phone in my hand. Whenever, another person was in hearing distance I used voluntary pseudo stuttering.

I hope that some enterprising graduate student or an undergraduate student in need of a research paper will do a single blind study of clients who stutter to see if this method yields the desired reduction in stuttering versus for example spending the time in some laboratory with a SLP. Because it does NOT depend on the listener, but only on the person using pseudo stuttering, and the before and after stuttering severity observators can be totally unaware which one underwent which treatment, it could yield some interesting results.

My question to the authors of this paper and to anybody who is reading this is:

Do we have a stuttering SEVERITY scale as compared to a stuttering FREQUENCY scale, a la Lidcombe.

Gunars
