In answer to Judy's question, I interview applicants for my office, the New York City Law Department, and have not yet interviewed a person who stutters. However, last week, my boss came into my office and said that they were going to interview someone who a former supervisor had recommended, but that the applicant stutters. The applicant had not mentioned this, but the former supervisor had, and my boss had heard him stutter over the phone. She asked if I would interview him next Tuesday since I would have more insight into whether he is capable of the great deal of oral representation and persuasion required by the job. It will be interesting to see what happens.
