The most important motivation can be improvement of well being: personal and interpersonal, a little contribution to a better world. A PWS can have hard times; he is often misunderstood. The psychological damage must be prevented. Second motivaton: let there be communication. Opportunities are much greater now then in the pre-web time. But nothing replaces the face to face contact, with other Pws or with a supporting person (Slp or counselor). Finally, accept yourself, don't fight windmills... but listen to people who have achieved improved communication skills; learn from them... As a hidden PWS I did retire from this year conference because my ideas where somewhere falsely pretending that living with stuttering can be easy. Perhaps for some people this is true, but-honestly-, for most of us it is damned dificult; it really hurts. So you need to be supported. Thanks to all people who made this conference possible and who work for improvement of the lives of stuttering children.
