Dear Ann,

I'm so sorry your friend did not return. I admire your concern for her and itention to help her. That is so commendable of you! Please know you've done your best.

It is not infrequent that PWS find themselves unable to confront their stuttering, unable to get it out in the open, and I suspect from what you have told me, this could be the case with her. I'm sure you know it can be very frightening and just nearly impossible to deal with.

But, she did make an attempt, I'm sure she was shown warmth and caring at the meeting, and just perhaps at a later time she will find she will brave it, get involved in your support group, and benefit from being among others with the same problem, understanding, same experiences, feelings, etc.

And, by the warmth and caring I've sensed in what you've written during this online conference, I know you'll be there for her to help her in any way you can.

Of course, perhaps it was only a scheduling problem, but in our online group we deal so much with that issue of the terror and dread which comes with getting into a support group. I do hope she returns as it is obvious she is in real pain from her stuttering, and needs help from people like you in having the courage to not let her stuttering and the fear of it control her. And, I know you'll be there to help her.

It has been such a pleasure meeting you like this. I admire your interest in and caring for others, and your participation in prgrams for people like us.

Your friend, Karen
