I am a graduate student at East Carolina University studying to be an SLP and am currently taking a class on stuttering. Since teh cause and cure for stuttering is still unknown, I am intrigued by what people, especially those who stutter, believe about therapy. In reading your article some questions came to mind. Do you believe that you will always have to have an established support system in place in order to speak more fluently, or do you feel that one day you can speak confidently and as fluent as possible without the support system. If you must always have that constant support, then what would you do in the event that you did not have someone accessible? I am an advocate for having support systems, but am just curious as to what you would do or what do you think would happen if there was no support? I understand that more most people who stutter any improvemnt in producing more fluent speech is considered a success. Do you feel you are as "fluent" as you can and will be, or do you feel that after a while the way you speak now will not be good enough and you will expect something more? Just something to think about? Thank you for your insight into the world of a stutterer. I look foward to hearing your reply to my inquiries. Thanks!
