Ah Bobby, you weave a wicked tale. I am glad that you and the SLP's got out of the cave and into the "real world." I just wonder why it took so long and with so much pain to find the right match? I started learning about stuttering, after about 22 years of uncontrolled stuttering, in 1953 at Western Michigan University with Dr. Van Riper. He had trained many "speech teachers" prior to my going there and I am sure none of those people would have been so stupid as the ones you reported about. Although I must add that Dr. Van always gave his wife more credit for working with kids than himself. About the marbles: would you believe that a company, many years ago, marketed a device called the "Micro-wave voice aid" to cure stuttering! It was a thin plastic covered wire formed to fit the mouth with two sized replaceable balls that you could attach to the ends that fit behind your molars. Where they got the term "micro-wave" is beyond me. I am glad you are a scrappy person otherwise you would have given up long ago. You present a lesson here that many PWS can benefit from. Best to you.
