Jerry:

Aren't the true stories the most "wicked tales" there are? I've talked to quite a few other stutterers (Russ Hicks, Jonathan Bashor, many others) who didn't have the same type of "therapy" that I recieved. The only thing I can figure, is the area of the country (southeastern New Mexico) was still in its "gunslinger" days and hadn't yet caught up to the rest of the world. Actually it still needs a few years to go.

Being somewhat isolated for so many years, you learn to adjust and tolerate many different things and attitudes. There still no SLP in the school system for my hometown, they have one come down from a nearby town (80 miles away) once a month for "therapy sessions", and she is paid by the state.

I didn't know the "Micro-wave voice aid" even existed. But it sounds very much like what the doctors did to me in Colorado when I went there for 6 weeks as a teenager. Even though my marbles were loose (in more ways than one).

But thanks for the kind words. I am determined to learn how to deal with my stuttering, as I will do it for the rest of my life. Just gotta work on reducing the amount I do.

Bobby
