I found your paper very insightful and thought provoking! I am fairly new to the field of stuttering and have a couple of questions. You stated that, “Our first factual recognition of a PWS was Thomas Brown (Braun). He was recognized as being a troublemaker and a social misfit who did not fit in with the families’ ideas and beliefs. Not marrying he lived out the latter part of his life as a hermit (recluse).” Based on your knowledge do you think that Mr. Brown’s social difficulties and eventual withdrawal was due in part to his stuttering or mainly because of his differing beliefs? Secondly, your family tree brings up many important issues regarding the possible causes of stuttering (social, hereditary, etc). Do you know if there have been any studies that compared the family trees of stutters? If not do you think this would be beneficial?
