Andy,

Usually, when working with a young child, "smooth and easy" means speech that reflects the use of whatever the target is for that child. So for some it might mean using their speech helpers more easily or changing the way an utterance was spoken to reflect an easier form of stuttering (i.e. stuttering more fluently), while for others it might mean speaking more fluently. Each child's goals are individualized.
