Thank you for your article about stuttering treatment in young children.I was interested to read about your combination of approaches to therapy., ie direct and indirect. I think it would be fair to say that in Australia the majority of treatment is direct. We are fortunate to have "The Australian Stuttering Research Centre" which has helped to develop "The Lidcombe Program" . The recent results of their research shows that it is perhaps the most successful treatment program for young stuttering children . I and many many clinicians in Aust. have used this program very successfully for over a decade and the results (with an average clinical treatment time of only 10.5 hours ) are long lasting fluent speech.Professor Mark Onslow, who heads the research team , is probably well known to you and has this program under constant research. This evidenced based program is readily accessible on the web for more information at www.cchs.usyd.edu.au/asrc/treatment/lidcombe.htm Thank you once again Vince Borg, Speech Pathologist
