Good question! We see this situation as one that requires sensitive parent counseling. A meeting with the school age child, the parent, and the SLP, in which the three talk about their concerns--or lack thereof--would be most beneficial for all parties. Kids should not be "forced" to have speech therapy. But they should be assured that we are there for them if they ever want to try it or just want to talk to someone.
