A period of silence can be a very useful preparation time for me. In the Bible, you often read that the Lord went into the desert to pray before he went out in public to teach the people. I think that we all need periods of silence at different times where we aren't really working on specific things. This is not necessarily a joyful time. It is a time where we take a good look at where we are in our life. We look at our progress and at our failures. It is also a time when I again realize that all people have problems. It is in these periods of silence that I have learned how to persevere. Is that clearer?
