Hi, Thanks for posing your question. However, in regards to the issues Cole (1989) identified regarding service delivery, it was not stated that more minority children are at risk for stuttering. If that were the case, I certainly would like to know how she also came to that conclusion. I think in general she was referring to various disorders, stuttering being one of them, and that minority children due to lack of access to health care, limited education of parents, and essentially babies having babies certainly increases the possibility of cultural conflict within a treatment setting. If clinicians are aware and sensitive to cultural differences, involving beliefs and customs, hopefully clients will not be prejudged or considered to be inferior to the clinician.
