Have studies shown that stimulant medications do, or do not effect the stuttering behavior? The article stated that treatment would be most effective if conducted during the 1-3 hour period of the medications maximum effectiveness. Because many children spend a great deal of time off of the medication as well, would it be most productive to conduct therapy in split sessions, while on and off medication? Perhaps learning and practicing strategies in this manner would assist the individual in generalization and maintenance during both conditions of being.
