Your excellently written prologue led me to the hypothesis that there might be more covert than overt stuttering. Have there been any studies that have shown this?

Assuming that there are more covert than overt stuttering and, as your prologue suggests, the covert stuttering is frequently accompanied by "social misbehaving" or even "social maladaption" would not then be it the case that the training of stuttering therapists (such as those whose specialty will be stuttering) include a heavy dose of courses in counseling and even psychology?
